A day with my girlies

Today has felt like what I imagined motherhood would be like. After breakfast we sat down together and made a list of all the fun things we could think of to do today and then set out to do them!
When I was pregnant with Beth this is what I imaginged - a four or five year old with long blond hair in pig tails (like my little sister) and we would bake chocolate chip cookies and make crafts and I would homeschool her and we would make notebooks full of historical charicters and scientfic observations. I don't think I ever imagined having more than two children. God certainly had different plans for me!! Beth and I used to fight about craft projects all the time! Not until I finally realized that it mattered more to her that she do it herself than that it turn out at all did Beth start having fun with them. Obviously, motherhood has been nothing at all like what I had imagined.

Beth has been sick with a fever and a rash for what is now four days. She's feeling better today but we've spet pretty much the whole week on the couch watching movies and TV online. So today with no laundry urgently needing to be done and no mess in the kitchen I set aside the entire day to just be with them and do the messy thing that I often put off. So today we've painted, made "books", took a walk, dressed up and put on glitter "make-up" I cut their sandwiches with my metal quarter cup measure which was fabulous!! You could get two round scrummylicious sandwiches. It was like something strait out of "Fancy Nancy"! We played Uno and now Emma is having a bubble bath while the little kids nap. This is the last week before my big girls start school and it was so nice to have a day like this!
