All-in-one winner

I am like the queen of one-pan dinners - you know the kind - where the meat and the startch and the veggies are all together with some kinds of spice/sauce. My husband, as a rule, doesn't like these, he prefers an entire serving of meat... However he really liked last night's dinner, maybe he was just really really hungrey but I thought it was good too, so I'll share it here.

1 Box Rice-a-roni
2 Tablespoons butter
1 lb meat
1 box spiced mixed vegetables

Start up a box of Rice-a-roni (I used chicken flavor) on a large skillet according to package directions.
Sprinkle meat with tenderizer(I used "sandwich steaks") and slice into strips
Heat small box of vegetables (I used a box with baby carrots, cauliflower and peas in the pod) in the microwave.
Cook meat in a small skillet until the pink is just gone, set aside.
When the rice-a-roni is almost finished simmering stir in vegetables.
When the liquid is disolved add meat (I just left the meat on the top).
Let stand about 5 minutes.
Serves 4

Rice-a-roni is the best. I make this on dish with it by adding chicken, pepper, onions, and cheese and it's so quick and yummy!

By the way, I noticed you just read "Til We Have Faces." What did you think of it? I've had that one on my to-read list for a while. Also, if you liked "Keeping the Sabbath Wholly" you may like "Mudhouse Sabbath" by Lauren Winner.
