Baby Sleep

My pediatritian gave me a little piece of advice that has helped enormously in getting Katie-Abigail to sleep through the night, so I thought I'd share it here on my blog. She said to give her a sedative dose of benedryl (which she told me is 1-1/2 teaspoons) "to knock some of the fight out of her" at night. I gave her a dose Monday night and then again last night and both nights she's slept completely through the night! I plan to do this for the rest of this week to help her get into the habit of sleeping through the whole night and then I'll take her off of it and see how she does. I've also given her a pacifier in her crib. She's old enough now that she can put it in her mouth by herself, and that has helped too.
I am so thankful!!! She used to get up once around 1am and then again at about 5am to nurse, and she would fight and scream until I nursed her. Then last week after her immunizations she wanted to be in bed with me all night long! If I got up to put her back in her crib she'd scream and want to nurse. Then she backed off to "only" getting up four times a night. That was too much for me. I stood over her on Sunday night about ready to cry, praying to sleep again. I am so thankful for the Lord's blessing on Katie-Abigail's sleep!!
